A prize is waiting for the reader who can tell me the difference between the two pictures of Sr. Ilaria. (All members of the Fransiscans of Halifax are exempt from this contests as are those who attended her solemn vows on October 4th.) More prizes for whoemever can tell me the reason for the change. This is not a shameful ploy to elicit more comments...

Let me guess? She has taken temporary vows (or possibly perpetual?!)! Ah this is so exciting! She looks so radiant :)
Also, the black veil (assuming my answer is right) symbolizes the death to self the vows represent.
Don't worry, I don't expect a prize. I just want to see if I am right.
Oh... and her hair?! Is it all cut off now?!!
She is in a different location, dress differently!
Different location - Cary! There is no prize for stating the glaringly obvious.
You know what? I don't actually know what vows she has taken (shameful) except that they were her first vows at which she received the black veil. I hadn't thought about the meaning of the black veil but I suppose that Jenna is right. I will have to ask Sr. Teresa (her superior). And your prize Jenna is a baby shower at my house! yay!!! Oh, wait, the last I heard her hair was to her chin in a bob.
Elena, Sr. Ilaria has taken first simple profession (which simply means she will 'reprofess' her vows each Oct. 5 until Solemn profession in - I believe, if my math is rigth - 2011?! Those are called Solem or Perpetual and you profess the vows for life. These ones are professed 'until the next feast of St. Francis' Of course the vows are poverty, chastity, and obedience but I am pretty sure you knew that. Jenna is correct about the veil - yeah Jenna!!
Now, not that I don't love seeing Sr. Ilaria and the Franciscans on the blog but I am seriously missing the updates and stories of the family??!!!
