Never Fails

It's as if the February Scourge is written into our blood.  This particular bug lies latent within unsuspecting Afelskie immune systems waiting for the onset of the F-month.  One of the smarter bugs watches the calendar, notes that January has been traded in for February and, just like magic, the throwing up begins.

And this always coincides with marriage prep weekend.  Why do I even bother booking a babysitter?

The merciful side of this latest bug (our first in a while) is that the throwing-up stage is very short, as in hours.  Joseph threw up a few times last Saturday morning and was already sneaking food and water by lunch with no ill effects.  And then we had a respite of five days in which Isaac, Jacob and I developed colds and I thought, "Maybe, just maybe, we'll make it this time."   But then I woke up this morning to find Hannah on the couch clutching the blue bowl (synonymous with the stomach flu).  So, here we are again.

Marriage prep begins on Friday night and Dave will fly solo in the evening while I go it alone on Saturday afternoon.  The engaged couples will just have to take our word for it that we can stand to be in the same room together.

At least Dave has more time to finish his report cards - something he is always in need of.

I was wondering why you seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth! It sounds like the flu we had a month ago.
I am quite sure that I read this blog post from you once a year at this time...
Maybe something to make you smile: Last night as he was laying in bed Stephen furiously defended his assertion that Jojo does not wear underwear. By that he did not mean Jojo wears diapers. No, he wears nothing under his pants.

Elena, This will show the star struck almost wed what married life is really all about. Loving one another in sickness and in health and in learning to put aside your plans for God's plans. Let go and let God. Your will be in our prayers for a quick and complete restoration. God bless. Anne-Marie

Thank you, Anne-Marie G.. That's what I needed to hear.

Colin, Stephen might be on to something. Joe has a tendency to go commando unless we check him at the door. I might not have checked him that thoroughly the morning that AM babysat! Trust your son.

I feel your pain Elena... or as the priest on Sunday said, "Suffering is a mystery to be lived", I am living that mystery along side you... lol. Sarah was the most funny when it came to our little stomach flu. She hated the bowl, I'm guessing she associated it with the vomit and thought that it was the cause. So any time she was throwing up and it came near she would madly push it away and proceed to throw up all over the couch, carpet, bed etc. The game was try to catch the vomit with the bowl. Not a very fun game. I was bad at it.

Just looking at these lovely pictures again when I noticed on your sidebar that you have less than 100 days left until baby is due! Awesome.

I hope everyone is well and runny-nose free these days. We seem to be hanging in!
