The best laid plans ... you know the rest.
Why is it that on a day when you are finally by yourself (well, except for the baby), that the baby decides that he really wants to let you know that it is just you and him ... all day and all night?
And that he only goes to sleep once the kids pile in the door at the end of the day?
And that the ouchy, ouchy pain in the night is mastitis?
And that the really Polish doctor at the emergency room laughs when he finds out you have five kids and says in heavily accented English, "Ohhh. You really are Catholic: mind, soul and body." And now you can get on with enjoying the nice photos of our children.
And I will take my antibiotic.

Oh dear! I'm so sorry about the mastitis. Do some major immune building right now, even with the antibiotic. Terry V. always told me when mastitis was looming to do echinacea, vitamin C (lots) and drink, drink, drink and rest. Everyone says to take the baby to bed and make him nurse so you don't get too full. But you probably know that. Do you know the cabbage leaves trick?
I had heard the cabbage leaf tricks but haven't yet tried it. I also heard to point the baby's nose toward the blocked duct so that he can more effectively clear it. I am drinking lots and nursing lots but the rest hasn't been the greatest as the first night was just painful and last night I lay awake for hours. Here's to a better night tonight! I think the infection happened because he is getting really distracted when nursing and transitioning from long nursings to shorter ones; thus, I'm not being emptied as I once was. I am OK today except for the bad sleep.
Hi Elena, I am so sorry to hear about your mastitis. Ouch!! I remember the pain from 26 years ago. I'll pray that Isaac helps you recover quickly. And I have enjoyed your pictures of the children.
