A pre-haircut picture. I will post a post-haircut picture once my hair looks like the above. But, here is Isaac. And, dear god-mama, he still fits just fine in his newborn baptismal gift! Babies don't grow very quickly at our house. Isn't he cute?

His hair is darkening up a little but he is still quite fair and prone to bouts of eczema on his forehead. His skin seems to stay clear if I avoid hats for prolonged periods. I have been told several times that Isaac looks like me. I find this hard to believe as he is so fair but also because I am usually told that my kids look nothing like me and everything like Dave. I used to find this lack of resemblance quite difficult, even painful, but I have grown used to it and now find it very hard to imagine a child who might look like me. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind a little brown baby of my own. Grave reason to have more?

A little smile and a view of his birthmark. Apparently, it will be practically invisible by his first birthday. He looks very much like my father's side in this photo.

But he smiles like his mommy: a little crooked with one eye smaller than the other. (The top photo is the result of years of practicing how to smile with both eyes the same size. Jacob and Isaac have not yet learned this skill. I hope they never do.)

Still experiencing astonishment.

Rebecca, he has a chin just like your boys. None of ours, other than Isaac, have had a chin quite like that.

Even he is amazed by how much he resembles his first cousins.

Wow, he just keeps getting cuter and cuter. And - not that I'm an expert, but I've seen photos - he really does look like Rebecca's boys.
If you're ever longing for a child who resembles you, you could always borrow Norah for a day. The dark complexion and perfect straight hair... I think she could easily pass for yours.
(My word verification is "resse" which looks an awful lot like "Reese" which makes me want a peanut butter cup. *sigh*)
Congratulations! He is so adorable. :) I love his expressions.
His resemblance to Rhett at that age is uncanny. I mean, he REALLY looks like Rhett. And Rhett is profoundly handsome, so this can only predict good things.
Also, Jaclyn, go have a peanut butter cup -- I am going to!t
Dear Elana, thanks for once again confirming that I don't get women.
Why would one get one's haircut and then refuse to show a picture of it until it grows back? You knew full well how it would look before you got it cut, because you've had 'the bob' before.
Am I missing a proposition in this syllogism called woman?
P.S. Isaac is adorable.
Colin,I've never understood the meaning of a syllogism - too much history and no philosophy or logic. And, here's the scoop: I told the hairdresser to cut it about three inches longer than she did. I am not joking and three inches makes a heck of a lot of difference.
Rebecca, It is amazing how much he looks like Rhett. You should find a picture of him at that age and send it to me so that we can post them next to each other. Finally Dad's genes are coming through loud and strong.
Jaclyn, I often laugh at how much other people's children look like me!
Young Mom, Thanks. I also love his expressions. When Ben introduces him, he says, "This is the baby. he always has the same face."
Elena - you look great and little Isaac is indeed adorable. He looks like he's just going to pop out of my monitor in the last picture:). I love Ben's line, "he always has the same face". Too funny!
Elena you look beautiful! A few comments on your blog comments...what do you mean none of your kids look like you? Benjamin is your clone, in my opinion - so incredibly handsome. Nicholas to has a strawberry birth mark, on his chest. It is already shrinking very slowly but surely. Apparently they are extremely common - who knew? One last thing, Nicholas too has pretty sensitive skin. I had a nurse tell me when I had Robert to use Glaxal Base, it's excellent stuff....
Glad to hear that you are doing well - praying that advent is wonderful. - Sandy
sandy, thank you. i too see the ben resemblance but people still say that he is dave's clone. those birthmarks seem very common: Lucia had one, my friend, racqel's little girl had three. it is always reassuring to hear of others. i have been using olive oil and another natural cream on i's skin - they both do the job. always good to hear from you, elena.
sandy, just finished looking at your latest photos - your children are incredibly beautiful and hannah has the same sweater as sarah jumping in the bouncy castle. also, you look great - love the hair and glasses.
