Grandpa Nick came to visit yesterday on a brief time-out from field work on Georgian Bay. On an earlier visit from a few years ago, Grandpa Nick made a mistake: he set the bar too high. On that visit he played hard with the twins -- games of Monster Tag, intense running races and high energy hide-and-seek. Thus, the twins expect the same on all visits. There is no sitting on laps, weaving tales from the past or munching on cookies. High octane fun is expected and, somehow, Grandpa Nick delivers. No wonder they cry when he leaves.
Here is Joseph wondering where everybody went during hide-and-seek.

This is Benjamin attempting to tell Joseph where HannahJacob (Ben's term) went. I don't know if Ben was quite sure what was going on either.
Success: they found their sister atop a fire hydrant.
This was to be expected.

Jackets and boots???????
Some observations:
1. Hannah is a fast runner. I am pretty impressed.
2. Dad's legs are incredibly pale. That must be related to the jacket-and-boots weather.
3. Joseph does resemble Rhett; but his hair looks two-toned from the back. Is that just the light in the photo?
4. It totally stinks to have a rotten cold when it is +35C (yes, you read that right) out. Ooops, that last one had nothing to do with your post, I am just griping.
perhaps Grandpa Nick is so energetic with the kids because Grandma Julie refused to ever play monster tag!
He really does play whereas most adults supervise - I remember you saying that Aunt Martha played with the kids as well.
It is a gift some adults have. No wonder children love it - such fun!
okay I laughed my whole way through thinking of my father running like that!
