June 5th and 6th

I could think of no better title for this post other than the dates on which these photos were taken.  June 5th was the day we returned home from Florida.  (For a full account, I refer you to Hannah's blog:  www.afelskie.blogspot.ca.)  I imagine that you have figured out that these clouds are the view from our airplane ... as it circled and circled the Toronto airport in preparation for landing.  A holding pattern is what the pilot generously announced over the PA system.  As my father-in-law said, "I bet they don't tell you how much fuel they have left for that holding pattern."
Thank God that this incredible baby slept through most of the holding pattern.
We arrived home late the night before Sarah's 4th birthday.  I was awoken at 6:57am by Isaac tapping on my shoulder and peering over the blankets to see if his mother had, in fact, arrived home.  When he ascertained that I was really and truly back from far, far away, he said, "Oh good, you're home.  I can stop crying now."
Providentially I had wrapped all of Sarah's presents before leaving for the trip.  Thus, they were ready and waiting for The Big Rip that accompanies all birthday celebrations.
Ponies and dresses and hairbands:  birthday perfection.
Sarah's fake smile consists largely of her thrusting out her lower jaw in a far from normal Sarah smile.
Her good friend Lauren shared birthday supper and cake with us.
Sorry, this photo was meant to follow the first shot of the clouds.  However, after seven years of blogging, I am still no good at rearranging photos.  I encountered this storm system as I left Peterborough at 8:30pm.  It was quite something and required that I pull over in order to wait out the rain.  I imagine it was this that caused the dreaded holding pattern.
