Well, a few of you have asked for it. Specifically two people said to me, "I really like when you post what you wore on Sunday." This, apparently, is enough of a response to motivate me to post pictures of myself (something about which I feel a little strange). So strange, in fact, that my effort to curb the over-closing of my left eye by squeezing the right eye a bit more has resulted in a Katie Holmes sort-of look. You don't know what I'm talking about? Click here - the Katie-Holmes smirk that sparked wild rumours on the internet that she had suffered from Bell's Palsy. Well, I'm not quite there yet, but keep in mind that I have deleted many photos before choosing these two.
Ok, enough of that; on to the outfit.
Shirt (oh yes, I do love black and white): Winners, purchased on Monday at the new store in Pembroke. $16
Earrings: the silver hoops (of which I once wrote) bought in December with the leftovers of a gift certificate won six years ago.
Watch: my dress watch broke after Christmas leaving me with Dave's Christmas present of a Radiant Orchid Ironman stopwatch. It is perfect for Isaac to bother people with at mass.
Belt: bought twenty years ago at the Farmer's Market in Halifax from a leather craftsmen. See what you get when you buy quality! I bought it when I weighed 45 pounds more than I do now (gr. 10); it has been cut down to size and has made it through highschool, university, NET, Marriage and six babies. As well as high-waisted pants, evidenced by the distress on the leather about four holes left of the buckle.
Pants: Reitmans, 9 years ago (?), at least before I was pregnant with Ben.

How are we even related? You always look so elegant.
I have a shirt that is eerily similar to that one. I love the juxtaposition of stripes.
By the way, whenever you finish that book on grammar (the one you were reading on the treadmill) please enlighten me on "that" versus "which". That one drives me mad!
Rebecca, i love the juxtapositioning of the stripes as well. This shirt looks really good with the sweater that you bought me, even with all the different patterns. I don't understand the that and which difference either. I will go back and read it in greater detail.
Wait a minute, did you just say there is now a Winner's in PEMBROKE?
Operation: Defrump Jenna can now officially commence.
(This is a late-nominated New Year's Resolution. I guess you could say I gave up frumpiness for Lent?)
Also besides the lovely pictures, I love how you include interesting details on where the clothes came from in these posts -- that's great about the belt that has survived many years and sizes!
Jenna, let's go check out that Winner's sometime! I've yet to make it there myself, though that is partially because it is right next to the dangerously enticing Michael's, full of all sorts of crafty goodness!
Elena, you always pull off great Sunday outfits! I love the black and white too and I drool over your awesome leather belt very time I see you with it. The best belt I ever found was in an open air market in Florence! during my Austrian semester! but I think I gave it to my sister years back. It was brown and lovely, like yours. Hmm, maybe another trio to Florence is in order?
Love those iPad spelling/grammar mistakes. You get my drift.
Jenna and Erin, I went I to the michael's (to buy a rainbow loom) and, wow, is it ever overpriced! Stedmans has them beat in many departments. The winners was very nice. I shop the clearance almost primarily and found Hannah a spring/summer dress that when Sarah G. saw it, she said, "Does that come in adult?" I like winners because one can't tell that the clothes are from there. They are all a little different and challenge me to try new things. (This sounds really cheesy!). Whereas reitmans, which used to be my go-to store, always leaves me looking like reitmans. I sort of like this growing up thing! Jenna, I'll shop with you!
You look fab! I just rejoined WW this morning, so hopefully I, too, will be looking fab before too long.
Oddly, I love Value Village, but have ZERO patience for Winners. I guess it just seems like if I have to work that hard and hunt so much, I shouldn't have to pay retail prices. I like hunting at VV and getting like-new brand name jeans for $2.99. And speaking of full price, don't EVER shop at Michaels without a coupon! They put them out weekly, and you can even just bring it on your tablet instead of tracking down a copy of the flyer. (Except the coupons aren't valid on Rainbow Loom stuff, which is dumb.)
I just wanted to chime in and say if you're a comment junkie, What I Wore is a sure way to bring out the chit-chat.
I really do love your outfit posts.
Jaclyn, thank you for the compliment and for the michaels tip. I was amazed by the price of embroidery floss versus here at stedmans. I realise the quality is different, but still.
Jenna, I was thinking this afternoon that I should start a public fashion blog. My main reason is that all the fashion bloggers seem to be size 2 and super trendy. Perhaps I could blog for the average woman - 5'6, hovering around 150 lbs. (wow, I am amazed that I just wrote that down!). And some days I would be in running clothes, or pyjamas, or just a bad outfit.
The average woman is more like 5'4" and 160 pounds I think. At least in the anglosphere.
I'm going to start a fashion blog, too, only I'm going to cut my head off in every photo.
That was a joke. Well, the blog part, not the cutting the head off part. I'm definitely doing that. Although, I think it would be HILARIOUS to have a fashion blog where the blogger never showed her face. (ah, the possibilities are endless... paper bag, perhaps?)
Elena, LOVE LOVE LOVE the shirt. I must go to Winners and buy me one, although if they were only $16 then they're probably gone by now. I also just have to check for myself if Hannah's dress doesn't come in a (much) larger size.
And….if everyone is going shopping in Pembroke, I wanna come too.
