A Wee Poll

I have my 18-week ultrasound today at 10:45am. That means that we have the chance to find out the sex of this newest family member. So far, Hannah is rooting for a girl and Ben has come out in defense of his own sex. Jacob flip flops back and forth and Joseph votes with whichever sibling feeds him an answer first. Hannah has her heart so firmly set on a girl that I had a little chat with her this morning about not being disapppointed if the baby is a boy. Together, mostly under her direction, we decided that we would be most upset if the baby is an alligator; and that, if it should reveal itself to belong to that animal group, I will not tell Hannah the news. Thus, she will be happy simply to find out that the baby is a human. Complicated, yes.
Anyway, the point of this post is to poll my readers. What do you think we're having: boy or girl? Leave your answer in the comments and I will reveal the answer tomorrow.

I'm just excited that you're going to reveal the answer!!

I don't have a guess as to what the baby's gender is, but I have to admit I somewhat share Hannah's hope for a girl. I think it would be lovely for her to have a sister. As long as it's not a reptile, amphibian or small household appliance, however, I think it'll be grand.

I think I am hoping a bit for a girl as well, mainly for the sake of Hannah, and for the sake of a bit more estrogen in your house. I know for me I am hoping just a tiny bit for a girl just because whatever we have the tide of estrogen/testosterone will swing in that direction (we are of equal balance now). However, I have been told by many people that I am definitely having a boy. Sorry this is getting a bit long. Lastly, what made you decide to find out at all? I only ask because with our first that was a topic of great discussion, and after Isaiah we haven't found out with the other 2. Whew.

Hi Elena, I'm going to try once again to post a comment. I think you have to have a special genetic imprint to be able to access this as I have tried so many times. Your post reminded me of a picture I saw in a marvellous book on Brothers and Sisters which showed a proud Mom holding a pink bundle surrounded by her bewildered husband and his brood of boys. Hopefully Hannah will get her sister this time around - if not we all know she will love and mother the new baby as she has the rest of the boys. God bless. Mrs. G

Hi Elena :)

I'm an often lurker and never poster...but had to jump in for this one and vote for a girl...and share that when my Mom was pregnant the second last time I had my heart very firmly set on a sister (I was five, I thought I'd get my long desired big sister out of it - silly yes) but anyway, they tried very hard to make sure I wouldn't be disappointed either way, but nevertheless when my mother called from the hospital to announce the arrival of my little brother Colm I was so mad I wouldn't speak to her...hopefully Hannah is sweeter natured than I was :P but if not don't worry, I got over my upset as soon as I laid eyes on my wee brother and forgave my Mom her terrible transgression of birthing yet another male :P

God bless!
Sorcha

I'm going to be contrary (as usual) and say I have a preference for another boy. Little boys are awesome! And with a boy, big sister could be Princess Hannah forever.

Sorcha, welcome. I'm so glad to have you aboard; please, post more often. Great story, by the way.

I am voting for the human. Because I love surprises too much, and the anticipation puts me over the moon for 9 months.
