Jacob and Hannah turned 16 on April 17. One question: how? How did time pass so quickly? I love having children this age, but I do sometimes long to hold them as babies once more. (Looking at these photos also reminds me that our pocketbook is ever so grateful that their teeth have all come in beautifully straight!)
Alas, I cannot return to their infancy, so I will have to settle for them holding babies now. Matthew is rarely out of Hannah's arms. When he isn't in one of his parents' or siblings' arms, he is crawling and cruising the furniture. He is extremely physically precocious and seems to leap from one milestone to the next. Despite his advances and his voracious appetite, he still hasn't cut his first teeth, and his tenth month quickly approaches. But, wait, this is a twin birthday post; enough about the baby.
It's tough to find photos of Hannah because she is often the one holding the camera. In fact, her love for photography is so great that we and my parents bought her quite a fancy camera for her sixteenth birthday. So fancy that, if we had had this camera years ago, the quality of this blog would have been far grander. It is rare to see Hannah without camera in hand and she makes me stop the car to take snaps of cows, stone fences, vistas and anything that captures her eye. (As an aside, she is kneeling in this photo and is much taller than 3.5 feet!)
Sorry, another photo of the baby. Can't resist.
This photo has no artistic value, but I post it for posterity. Dave and I are lying in Sarah's bed watching videos of the kids from years ago that we rediscovered in our archives. So precious, so valuable.
The twins again, with the requisite cake tilt.
People often remark that Jacob and Hannah relate to one another like an old married couple. Here they are with their first baby;).
I found this Pic Collage among the photos on our computer. Hannah must have made it during some idle time and I thought it would be appropriate to post for her birthday. The twins are presently in grade 10 at the Virtual Learning Centre. They are taking all grade 11 courses and growing in knowledge and character day by day. They passed their written driving test on May 9 and have been driving daily with either Dave or me. Thankfully, they are both quite good and my visions of the ditch, dings and other headaches have yet to occur. Jacob has already survived a woman blowing through a stop sign on him as well as a deer running out in front of him. And a bear, I forgot about the bear - perils unique to rural teenagehood. I can't say enough about our two oldest. They have brought none of the usual teenage headaches and prove over and over again to be wonderful companions, great conversationalists and irrepeatable human beings. We are so very, very thankful for the gift that we were given 16 years ago.
