There has been a lot going on in our lives recently that has kept me from blogging. Dave's mother passed away on the 16th of January and, although expected, her death still arrived much sooner than we anticipated. Thus, there has been a flurry of activity of visits, wakes, funeral, luncheon, final details, closing bank accounts and on and on. There has been hardly a moment in which we have yet been able to realize that she has really gone. Nevertheless, as her obituary quoted St. Bonaventure, "Anne has gone as far as God and God is very near."
I was overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and neighbours who took the time to come to the wake and/or funeral and who brought by meals. Some meals came with a visit and some were left on the front doorstep! (Good thing I didn't leave the dog out!)
Even though my mother was here for the week, we really needed those meals as my body finally caved to sickness, and I was hit by a body-aching flu the day of the wake. Thank God that Dave was spared.
However, this little girl is growing like a weed and getting cuter by the day. We were in Ottawa last week for Jacob's annual eye appointment and we came home with a new exersaucer that Jacob's godparents were anxious to get out of the house. I was very happy, as our exersaucer is very old and cruddy.
Mariana is only three months, but already able to"stand up" in the exersaucer and enjoy some new stimulation outside of Sarah's daily song to her, "Mariana, you're the cutest girler in the whole world. (Repeat)"
Pure joy...
...followed by a quick dose of reality.
